Henry Lowman, Ph.D.

Director of Protein Sciences

Dr. Lowman joined NGM Biopharmaceuticals as the Director of Protein Sciences in October 2009, providing leadership for the company's protein and antibody chemistry efforts. He was most recently the Director of Antibody Engineering at Genentech, with responsibilities for antibody discovery, optimization and technology development. During his years at Genentech, he was an NIH postdoctoral fellow, scientist, and senior scientist in protein engineering before leading the antibody group. In these roles, he contributed as a team leader or team member on several biotherapeutic research or development projects involving proteins such as human growth hormone, IGF-1, vascular endothelial growth factor, IgE, and CD20.
